"Authors specify the style and location of generated content with the :before and :after pseudo-elements. As their names indicate, the :before and :after pseudo-elements specify the location of content before and after an element's document tree content. The 'content' property, in conjunction with these pseudo-elements, specifies what is inserted."
while testing deng
i looked for a freehand solution, because the example in the deng forum
for SVG rendering was only for illustrator.
so a searched a little bit and tada:
SVG Factory
The SVG Factory is a free utility that allows almost any Windows drawing or graphics program to export SVG and SVGZ files. It can also be used as a metafile (WMF) to SVG converter.
How It Works
In your favorite Windows graphics program, copy an image to the clipboard. Then, paste the image into the SVG Factory. Now you will be able to save the image as an SVG file. That's all there is to it!
as long nobody can speak with central from the operating system side
macromedia would be very alone on desktops.
all flash applications i have seen so far run in the flash player.
no button or combobox has an ID, nothing there to identify.
bud indeed all of these components are very beautiful.
well maybe the trick is to send from every active element in flash a
fscommand to the hosting program.
on windows i would try that with embedd flash.ocx in a simple exe,
which listens to fscommand and moves invisible clones of those
elements over the screen.
Of particular interest, we have released a new sample application. The Flash Slide Show Sample application shows how to integrate Flash within Visual Basic applications.
sometimes i find the flash html help quite horrible, so i tried many times to compile a chm version.
most of the time i had too much to try and some programs were limited.
today i found htm2chm.
this tool is amazing :
htm2chm is a small user-friendly utility for daily use, which allows you to convert both separate HTML pages
with images, and the whole websites (for example downloaded with offline browsers) to one CHM file for
more convenient storing. The program automatically compresses files during the compilation process,
dramatically decreasing the output file size.
all i had to do is to backup my flash mx help folder and to use 'ContextHelp.htm' as start page.
to make it more beautiful the nav swf should be replaced by a jpeg or gif version without the link titles.
the tool also offers something like preindexing a folder, so my next step will be to compile
component and other stuff into the chm too.
my goal is that i already have my own context help in flash (and any other application) -
its simply copy code or window title/text in class xyz and pass it to the related help file.
maybe start recompiling all help files to build a global personal help library
i made two publishing templates for preview on localhost.
in the extension are also 4 templates - no margins and center (+ detect flash 5/6).
currently only the webroot folder 'htdocs' is supported, if you have any other names
for me the please write a comment and I'll add it (as long its kind of standard) .
'It's an extension for the Windows Explorer, simply right-click an OCX, DLL or EXE file
and select "Register ..." or "Unregister ..." from the menu.
This will either register or unregister the selected component from the registry.'
on xp the path is:
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\Macromed\Flash\flash.ocx
joerg schmalenberger released a beta version of the dw-exporter.
the tools exports all settings from dreamweaver - the configuration folder, site definitions and passwords.
the beta version is currently only available in german, but i think its easy to use.
you may try the babelfish translation of his website.
while testing i sometimes want to close dreamweaver (could be another prog too) without saving anything.
well, with a simple mouse gesture i do so.
the gesture is:
right left
this feels like ereasing something on paper.
i am to lazy to drwaw a picture about the gesture:
its rhold right mouse button + >
why did I know you knew this !
that you can not only choose individuell filenames ?
that you also can define a path in the publishing settings input fields.
heureka, i found a way to copy a filename from the windows explorer to the clipboard and wrap some code around, so that i only have to paste in the dreamweaver live preview instead of typing.
this is for pictures i post sometimes, maybe i'll add a few lines for automatic upload on my server ...
remember ? i post from inside of dreamweaver. but unfortunally in the live preview all keys are diabled, even control v is not working, i can't fire keystrokes.
so i use the paste button on the standard toolbar, which is nice too.
you can find the link to remotekeys on the right side.
thats the remotekeys code, i press only one button on the remotekeys panel (which stays ever on top):
tom muck released a live preview extension for dreamweaver. now you can view your asp, asp.net, jsp, and php pages directly in dreamweaver instead of in the browser. The Dreamweaver Team Extensions
and here comes the really amazing part:
i made a small redirection page which loads my blog entry site. with the 'Favorites Menu for Dreamweaver MX Extension'.
now there is a bookmark for blogging from inside of dreamweaver.
(yep and for sure, there is a local testserver with php, mysql and perl running) Macromedia Exchange - Dreamweaver Home Page
i already made a mouse gesture for that, a B for blog :)
btw. i replaced the sitespring.swf in the sitespring panel with my own swf (same name). now there is a swf which tells via local shared objects a projector what to start. [crazy, i know]
dreamweaver mx is really a great program, but what i miss is the option to save own panelsets. you can choose only between three modes (dw4, homesite coding and mx).
there is a simple solution for that:
export the the 'FloaterStates' key from the registry and save it with a discriptive name (eg. floaterset1.reg or mypanels1.reg).
i am on win xp, so the path to the key may be different to yours in windows - gladfully the regedit.exe has a search option :)
you can export the key by hand or use a batch file for each set.
my floaterset1.bat has the following line in it (make a new file in notepad and paste this line:
REGEDIT /E e:\floaterset1.reg "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Macromedia\Dreamweaver 6\FloaterStates"
and save it with the extension .bat .
-> e:\floaterset1.reg is the output name - to restore a panelset simply start it and say ok in the upcoming dialog.
so here is the trick - make for each panelset an own bat file and change the number for the output name.
the menues should be a little more intelligent.
in example: in ftp mode i expect to have transfer options first and then file actions.
that could be much easier ....
why do i have to use the same complicated keystrokes as in the mainview for putting a file in ftp fullscreen ? in ftp fullscreen there is no need for [control alt whatever], a simple p and a button P would be enough.
i mean: why clicking too much ?
i think there should be a free update with some user improvments like own panels and toolbars and buttons.
i don't want to go the way around with using external helpers.
currently i have a remotekeys panel on top and fire from there actions like :
save as, switch between fla, preview / back to authoring, rulers, close, etc
you have to be an expert for tweaking to find and program tools like strokeit and remotekeys (the urls are here somewhere in the blog)
on the other hand ....
i made two small flashcom applications.
we moved to a new flat and there is only one amplifer in our two computer rooms. as a lazy guy i don't want to copy all my mp3's on my buddys computer and then walk over to start those.
also starting from his the songs from my harddisk via network is not the solution.
so i simply have to projectors.
1st: client - the computer at the amplifier - the receiver.exe starts with windows and connects to the flashcom server on my workstation.
2nd: host - projector sender.exe connects too and is sending all my audio i intend to listen to via the amplifier.
i have a few ideas for extensions, please contact me when you got some time.
we will release a system utility, which captures the last recent files on your computer.
a flash panel in flash, dreamweaver and fireworks could give many access to the last used files (this is only step one)
dreamweaver is a cool tool for managing offline development too,
i do a lot of tweaking, so my testserver is for example the program folder
and a zipped backup is in my local folder on one another harddisk.
i'll post some screenshots later on,
ui! the html title field in the toolbar is way to short.
"\Macromedia\DreamweaverMX\Configuration\Toolbars\toolbars.xml"
i searched for 'title' -> width="150"
i set it to 300. it must be saved in your user folder, like :
pi\Anwendungsdaten\Macromedia\Dreamweaver MX\Configuration\toolbars
(a Anwender is a user - thats german)
a picture (swf .900kb)says more in 1600*1200,
i script actions and commands in dreamweaver, the strokeit program folder is my local strokeit sitefolder.
click hehe to see the screenshot hehe

i need an extension that converts my browser bookmarks to dreamweaver snippets.
the mxp should be able to convert the folder hierachie too.
same foldertrees for all :)
